Make Yourself At Home Campaign

Client: City of Renton, Washington

My role: Concept, photoshoot direction, graphic design, production, animation

Awards: Communicator Awards Award of Excellence 2021

The pandemic hit hard. Like every other city, Renton’s economic stimulation from both locals and visitors was faltering. They needed a new angle on the traditional shop local message.

With fresh assets from a masked-up photoshoot featuring locals, I developed a staycation-themed campaign including a hand-lettered logo and a custom map featuring the area’s six unique neighborhoods. After the success of the initial Facebook ad campaign drew more funding and as travel restrictions lightened, the project expanded into a multi-faceted, ongoing tourism campaign with refreshed assets two additional years in a row. I evolved the logo into multiple sub-logos, animated a series of digital ads, designed giant blue dragons to perch on downtown light poles, and created a suite of welcome materials for local businesses.
