Explore Wilsonville Branding & Website

Client: Explore Wilsonville

My role: Logo design, brand development, graphic design, map design, illustration, UX design, web design

Awards: MarCom Awards Gold Winner 2024

Explore Wilsonville, the Oregon city’s destination marketing organization, had been scraping by with an inflexible and uninspired brand. Their growing popularity post-pandemic, thanks in part to social media buzz from sponsored influencer trips, called for a brand overhaul to better reflect the city’s laid-back and welcoming, yet adventurous and unique spirit.

Supported by the Tourism Promotion Committee — a group of local partners ranging from city council members to small business owners — my team delved into research via competitive analyses, surveys and workshops. The committee requested that the brand visually complement the City of Wilsonville logo, while having its own unique identity. I designed the logo and supporting brand elements such as a badge graphic and tagline graphic, laid out the visual identity guide, created templated social media ads, and designed a visitor guide brochure featuring a custom illustrated map. The re-launched Explore Wilsonville encourages visitors to take advantage of the city’s central location, drivable excursions, and rich farming culture — in the heart of it all.

A revamp of the Explore Wilsonville website was next on the list. The existing site was clunky, inaccessible, and behind on industry standards. Using my knowledge of web accessibility standards and cross-device responsiveness, I streamlined the site map and reevaluated each step in the user journey before updating the design to meet the new brand identity. The result is a clean, elegant and user-friendly experience that makes it easy for a visitor to get inspired and plan their Wilsonville adventure.
